Ismael Saibari is on the verge of joining FC Bayern. Vincent Kompany apparently played a key role in the deal, personally convincing the attacking player to make the move.
Ismael Saibari’s transfer to FC Bayern is a done deal; the Munich club has already agreed with PSV Eindhoven on a total package worth around 55 million euros. Now, more and more details are emerging about why the Moroccan is so eager to move to Munich.
According to information from Sport BILD, Vincent Kompany has become a decisive factor in the talks over the past few weeks. The Bayern coach is said to have made an intensive effort to recruit Saibari and personally outlined to the attacking player what role he could play with the German champions.
Contact between the two sides had apparently been ongoing for some time. As early as January, Kompany is said to have courted the 25-year-old on his birthday. Further discussions between the coach and the player followed in recent weeks, during which the Belgian once again strongly encouraged a move.
Kompany explained to the PSV star why his playing style would be a great fit for FC Bayern’s system. These explanations are said to have made an impression on Saibari. As a result, the attacking player quickly warmed to the idea of a move to Säbener Straße.
Kompany gets the player he wants
On the field, Saibari fits exactly the profile Kompany has been looking for for the upcoming season. The Moroccan national team player can be deployed flexibly in attacking midfield, on the wings, and in a slightly deeper role. It is precisely this versatility that makes him particularly interesting for Bayern.
Saibari also recently showcased his qualities at the World Cup. In the surprising 1-1 draw against Brazil, he scored the opening goal for Morocco and was one of the most prominent players on the field. For Bayern, this performance was, on the one hand, confirmation of their assessment, and on the other, it increased the pressure to close the deal as quickly as possible.
The key issues have now been resolved. According to De Telegraaf, FC Bayern will pay a fixed transfer fee of 50 million euros, plus five million euros in easily attainable bonus payments. In addition, PSV Eindhoven is said to have secured a share of any future transfer proceeds.
An agreement has also been reached with the player. Saibari is expected to sign a contract in Munich running through 2031. Only the final formalities remain, including the contract signing and the physical.
For Kompany, the signing would be a key component of the planned squad overhaul. The Bayern coach has personally championed Saibari right up until the last minute. Now, everything points to him getting his desired player in the near future.
