Jonathan Tah showed once again how important he is for FC Bayern in the 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund. The mental aspect in particular was crucial for the central defender in the classic match
Thanks to some strong defensive actions, Jonathan Tah played an important part in FC Bayern’s victory in the classic against Borussia Dortmund. Like his team-mates, he was initially asked whether there was still a title race at all with Dortmund now eleven points behind
Tah did not want to close the topic completely, as he announced on Sky : „We want to keep winning our games, of course, but we know that today was a very important game for us. That’s why we really wanted to win the game. But we’ll keep going and we won’t stop. It was a tough piece of work today.“
His team-mate Joshua Kimmich was much clearer in his statement regarding the title race: „It’s up to us. You have to be honest about that. We now have an eleven-point lead. We won’t give that up,“ said Kimmich on the Sky microphone after the final whistle at Signal-Iduna-Park. Presenter Britta Hoffmann added afterwards that such a lead had never been squandered before. Kimmich underlined: „It will stay that way!“
Tah praises „mentality and team spirit“
In a match that could easily have ended in a draw, Tah saw „a very passionate game from both sides today. Both teams tried everything they could to dig in. I had the feeling that there were a lot of small mistakes on both sides, which always made the other team a bit stronger.“
However, it was the mentality in particular that tipped the scales in the end, as Tah found: „In the end, I think it was about the mentality and the team spirit, the team spirit. And we simply brought that onto the pitch today.“
