While FC Bayern are deliberately refraining from making new signings in the winter, they are quietly preparing for the summer transfer window 2026 at Säbener Straße. One name is said to be at the top of the list
FC Bayern have made a clear decision at right-back. In the BILD podcast Bayern Insider, Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl confirm that Givairo Read from Feyenoord Rotterdam is the preferred solution internally – and that the transfer strategy for the summer is already tailored to him
The search for a new right-back is no longer open-ended at FC Bayern. „That’s true,“ Altschäffl makes it unmistakably clear in the podcast. „The right-back from Rotterdam – he should come to Bayern.“ This makes it clear: Read is not just a loose mental game, but Munich’s concrete transfer target
Clear signals to players – summer transfer planned

According to information from BILD, FC Bayern is already in contact with the player’s side. „The player’s side and Bayern should be in contact,“ explains Altschäffl. However, a winter transfer is not an issue. Rather, those responsible are firmly planning a transfer in the summer. „The sum should be around 30 million euros,“ Altschäffl continues. Read’s current market value is estimated at 25 million euros
Falk adds that this decision has been widely agreed internally. „Max Eberl has put him as number one on his transfer list,“ reports the BILD head of soccer. There is a consensus within the club that Read fits the requirements profile perfectly, both in sporting and structural terms
Polyvalence as a key argument
A key argument in Read’s favour is his versatility. Falk explains why the Dutchman could fill several gaps at the same time. „He can play on the right, so you can have Stanisic in the middle as a backup,“ says Falk. That would automatically alleviate the tight personnel situation in central defence
What’s more, Read can also play on the left: „He’s young, he can also play on the left,“ emphasizes Falk
Read is currently absent from Feyenoord due to injury, with a new muscle injury causing discussion in Rotterdam. However, FC Bayern are taking a relaxed view of the situation. Altschäffl reports that Read is consciously using the time. „He is taking the time to heal in peace because he knows that a new chapter will start in the summer.“
The injury therefore has no influence on Munich’s basic planning. On the contrary: Bayern still see the ideal time for a summer transfer.
