At FC Bayern, the plans for the time after Leon Goretzka are becoming more and more concrete – at the same time, it is completely open whether there will be a classic successor at all. Internally, there is apparently currently an intensive discussion about how the central midfield should be set up in the future
According to Sport BILD, Bayern bosses have already signalled to Leon Goretzka’s management that a departure in the summer is very likely. The 30-year-old’s contract is due to expire and although talks have not yet been fully concluded, the trend is clear according to the report. Staying is now only considered an outsider scenario internally
Interesting fact: A direct replacement transfer is not necessarily planned at the moment. Those responsible are therefore of the opinion that the squad is already well-stocked in this position. With Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof, Munich have three German internationals for central midfield. In addition, there is Konrad Laimer, who can also fill this role. From the club management’s point of view, there is therefore no acute need for action on the transfer market
Transfer market remains in view
Instead, there is an internal discussion as to whether coach Vincent Kompany – similar to the successful model of Lennart Karl – should increasingly focus on a talent from the club’s own youth ranks. The focus is particularly on Noel Aseko. The 20-year-old is currently on loan to Hannover 96, where he is gaining important match practice. Although the second division club has a purchase option of one million euros, Bayern have also secured a buy-back option of 2.5 million euros. This means that Munich retain full control over Aseko’s future
David Santos Daiber is also being touted as a possible internal solution. The 19-year-old was allowed to show himself over a half in the test match against Salzburg and is considered a candidate for the challenger role in defensive midfield. Kompany believes he is capable of taking this next step

Nevertheless, Bayern are not completely off the market. Should the Hertha jewel Kennet Eichhorn actually become available, the personnel issue would be discussed again, according to Sport BILD. In addition, Munich are keeping an eye on other talents for the future, including Nathan De Cat from RSC Anderlecht and the Brazilian six-man Zé Lucas from Sport Recife
The direction is clear: FC Bayern are thinking less about an expensive immediate transfer when it comes to Goretzka’s successor and are instead looking very closely at whether the solution is already in their own squad or in the extended talent pool.
