Brajan Gruda’s performances in the relegation battle were crucial to Mainz 05’s survival in the league, and FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen have also taken note. Now the Bundesliga heavyweights are engaged in a transfer battle for the talented player.

According to information from BILD, the new German champions from Leverkusen are also interested in Brajan Gruda. According to the report, Bayern have been monitoring the Mainz 05 right winger for some time and have even made initial contact with the German-Albanian.

While his market value is estimated at nine million euros by transfermarkt.de, Mainz board member Christian Heidel has applied a different price calculation. In his opinion, Gruda has already developed further than Leroy Sané did at the same age.

The 60-year-old therefore wants to get at least €50 million for him, similar to what FC Schalke o4 paid for Sané when Heidel let him move to Manchester City in the summer of 2016. A price that only FC Bayern could afford, at least in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen would therefore probably have no chance in the transfer poker.

Julian Nagelsmann raves about Brajan Gruda

Brajan Gruda was one of the beacons of hope at FSV Mainz 05 last season. With four goals and three assists, the 19-year-old was instrumental in keeping the club in the league. With his performances in his 28 Bundesliga games, he was not only able to recommend himself for a move to a top club.

Julian Nagelsmann has also taken notice of the Mainz dribbler. He had this to say about a possible move for the high-class technician: „He’s extremely creative in the final third, a fine footballer.“ For the national coach, however, it is „important that he has rhythm as a young player“, which is why he is curious to see whether Gruda has the confidence to make the move to a bigger club.
