Before FC Bayern tried to start the new season with Thomas Tuchel, the Munich club had enquired with Oliver Glasner. The Austrian himself was apparently prepared to move from Crystal Palace to Munich.
Bayern’s current search for a new coach for the upcoming 2024/25 season continues. Having already received several rejections, the Munich management team tried Oliver Glasner.
The Austrian currently coaches Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The English club vetoed the move and refused to let the successful coach go. A transfer fee of 100 million euros was put forward – but never before has a club paid that much for a coach.
Bayern bosses Max Eberl and Christoph Freund wanted to sign Glasner at the time after Austrian national coach Ralf Rangnick had turned Bayern down a few hours earlier. Both bosses called the former Eintracht Frankfurt coach on the same evening, BILD reported at the time.
Glasner was ready for a move to Bayern
According to Sky, Glasner himself would have been prepared to move to the German record champions. This made the 49-year-old the only coach so far who would have liked to come to Munich.

The previous candidates Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick and Roger Schmidt had all turned themselves down. Thomas Tuchel also ultimately decided against staying at FCB.
Ultimately, however, the deal with Glasner fell through because Crystal Palace did not want to let the coach, who only joined the London club in February, go straight away. This was despite the fact that Bayern would have been prepared to pay the club up to €18 million for Glasner.
