A say in transfers? That’s what Bayern promised Rangnick

FC Bayern has made its decision: Ralf Rangnick is to take over from Thomas Tuchel in the summer. The Munich club have made the 65-year-old a concrete offer and are tempting Rangnick with a tantalising promise.

According to his own statements, Ralf Rangnick is not interested in the financial aspects of a possible Bayern commitment. Instead, the 65-year-old wants to make a difference in Munich: „For me, it’s about other things: Can I make a difference? Is there a chance to develop a team and be successful? That’s what drives me,“ he explained when asked about the coaching job at the German record champions.

In recent days, reports have been circulating that Rangnick is demanding a say in player transfers. According to rumours, he even wants to have the final say in this regard. A scenario that is unimaginable at FC Bayern and one that other coaches have failed to realise. Nevertheless, those in charge at the Isar are prepared to accommodate Rangnick.

Rangnick should actively help shape Bayern’s reorganisation

According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Rangnick is not demanding decision-making authority in all transfer matters. Rather, he wants to make a difference in „sporting matters“.

According to SZ information, sports director Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have given Rangnick a clear promise: He may and should explicitly influence the announced squad reorganisation. It remains to be seen how exactly they intend to fulfil this promise.

What is interesting, however, is that Rangnick apparently got the impression during the talks with Bayern that FCB had come to the realisation that some things would have to change at the record champions in the summer, especially with regard to the existing hierarchies and new players.
