Ronald Araujo is still a hot topic at FC Bayern. Reports have recently been circulating that the Munich club could make another attempt to sign Araujo in the summer. However, it has now been revealed that the German record champions are not prepared to dig too deep into their pockets for the Uruguayan.

In Matthijs de Ligt and Eric Dier, Thomas Tuchel appears to have found his new regulars for the centre of defence. The Dutchman and the Englishman are currently set. Minjae Kim and Dayot Upamecano will have to make do with a reserve role.

It remains to be seen what will happen in the Bayern defence in the summer. Recently, there have been increasing reports that there could also be a personnel shake-up in defence. Upamecano in particular is seen as a potential candidate for sale. The Frenchman could possibly be replaced by Ronald Araujo from FC Barcelona.

Araujo is not in a hurry at the moment

According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, Araujo is still on FC Bayern’s list, even though he is considered Tuchel’s favourite player. What is interesting, however, is that Munich are not planning any expensive signings for the centre-back position, according to Plettenberg. Should they not sell a centre-back in the summer, an Araujo transfer seems very unlikely.

The Uruguayan international emphasised last week that he feels very comfortable at Barcelona. However, the defensive all-rounder left open where his sporting future lies. According to Sky, Araujo is currently in no hurry to extend his contract with the Catalans. His contract runs until 2026 and much depends on the new coach.

The financial situation at Barça could also end up playing a decisive role in the Araujo case. The club is still heavily in debt and is effectively reliant on player sales in the summer. Reports have recently been doing the rounds in Spain that Barcelona would be willing to talk to Araujo for a transfer fee of €100 million or more.
