Alphonso Davies has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for some time now. Most recently, there have been reports that the 23-year-old left-back has already agreed a transfer with the Whites. Munich are still hoping for an extension. Should this not materialise, the Bayern bosses have put a price tag on his departure in the summer.
While Davies was still considered unsellable at FC Bayern after winning the treble in the 2019/20 season, the Canadian international’s standing has changed significantly in recent years. Even though Davies was always a fixture in the left-back position, his development is viewed critically within FCB.
The full-back has not been able to fulfil the high expectations for some time now. This is one of the reasons why an extension at the record champions is on the cards. Davies would certainly be open to staying at FCB beyond the summer of 2025, but is demanding an annual salary of 20 million euros, according to BILD. A salary that those responsible at the Isar are not prepared to pay. According to BILD, Munich’s financial pain threshold is 14 million euros.
Decision to be made in June
According to the newspaper, the sale of the Canadian is not a taboo subject. Munich would be willing to let Davies go for 70 million euros in the summer. This corresponds to his current market value, which Transfermarkt estimates at 70 million euros.
Real Madrid are already one of the top favourites. The problem: the Spaniards are prepared to pay a maximum of 30-40 million euros. In case of doubt, Real would also be open to a free transfer in the summer of 2025 – a scenario that Munich would like to avoid at all costs.
As BILD head of football Christian Falk reports, further talks between Bayern and Davies are imminent. According to the report, FCB are pushing for a final decision. This should be made by June at the latest.
