After the World Cup, FC Bayern will have barely any time to catch its breath. Just one day after the World Cup final, preparations for the new season will begin. To manage the workload of his top players, Vincent Kompany is apparently planning a special set of measures.
On July 20, Vincent Kompany will gather his team at Säbener Straße for the start of training. Just five days later, the German record champions will play their first preseason friendly at the anniversary match of third-division club Wehen Wiesbaden.
Due to the German national team’s surprisingly early exit, the Bayern coach will have significantly more players at his disposal than originally expected. Of the 17 Bayern pros who played in the World Cup, only four are currently still in contention for the title.
Special leave for Kane, Olise, and Díaz?

As reported by BILD, Kompany nevertheless plans to give his key players—who have been under particular strain—additional time to recover.
According to the report, Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Díaz are set to receive special leave immediately after the World Cup. As a result, the trio would not only miss the friendly matches against Wehen Wiesbaden and FC Rottach-Egern but also sit out the training camp at Lake Tegernsee.
According to the report, it’s even possible that the three attacking stars won’t rejoin the team until after the Audi Summer Tour to Asia. FC Bayern’s trip to Asia is scheduled for August 1–8.
Focus on workload management
With this measure, FC Bayern apparently aims to prevent the numerous competitive matches of the past few months from leading directly into preparations for the new season.
Kane, Olise, and Díaz, in particular, were among Munich’s workhorses last season and are still regularly playing more than 90 minutes at the World Cup.
If Kompany does indeed opt for the light training regimen, the trio is likely to return to full team training only shortly before the start of competitive play.
