Exciting revelation: one of the best and most successful tennis stars in the world at the moment has announced that his love of football is fully dedicated to FC Bayern Munich.

Tennis star and Bayern fan Daniil Medvedev? The fact that this is the case was made clear by the 28-year-old Russian’s statements in an interview with Eurosport: „I really fell in love with football and Bayern when I was maybe 12 years old. That’s when it really started. But I remember that I liked Bayern even before that, when I was 6 years old,“ Medvedev revealed.

Medvedev on Bayern: „They were really good back then“

„They were really good back then and I remember telling my parents that Bayern were playing and we had to watch them. But when I was 12 years old, I started to take an interest in football and said to myself: ‚I need a team now‘. When I was younger, I supported ZSKA Moscow, but they didn’t play in the Champions League and when they did, they often lost,“ explained the tennis pro, who is currently fourth in the ATP world rankings.

„So I needed a team in Europe that I could support and be a fan of. So I remembered that I really liked Bayern and said: ‚This is my team now‘ – that’s how I chose my team and from then on, of course, I started to really like certain Bayern players and it got bigger and bigger for me.“

Prominent support for FC Bayern Munich from a professional who, piquantly, is considered the quasi-ancestor of Alexander Zverev, also an avowed fan of FC Bayern. Both stars have had their problems on and off the tennis court in recent months and years. From 6 March, they will serve in the USA as part of the Indian Wells tournament – and continue to support the German record champions.
