Robert Lewandowski has announced that he will be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Although the club has made it clear that the striker will fulfill his contract which expires in 2023, it is unlikely that Bayern will keep him against his will.
The Bavarians are looking to get a decent fee for Robert Lewandowski in the summer. Barcelona have already shown the most concrete interest in the Polish striker and are looking to pay what Bayern demand. Another round of negotiations will be taking place this week between Barcelona and Lewandowski.
But in the meantime, there could be another potential club that might snatch the Pole away from Barcelona. According to ‚The Guardian‘, the current holders of the Champions League, Chelsea could now join the race to sign Lewandowski, despite the player favoring a move to Barcelona.
Due to the fact that Barcelona have been facing a lot of financial problems in the past, Bayern Munich are skeptical whether it would be the right choice to sell Lewandowski and gain an appropriate transfer fee from his sale. According to reports, the club demands a transfer fee of 40 million euros.
Although it’s been reported that Barcelona are ready to pay such fee, for Bayern might make more sense to sell the player to another club who are able to pay significantly more than that.
The Guardian reports that Lewandowski is unsure whether moving to England is the right choice for him, but nevetheless, Chelsea are still monitoring his situation.
