Bad news for Bayern Munich and especially for Choupo Moting. The Cameroonian has tested positive for COVID-19.

As the club announced on Thursday, Eric Maxim Choupo Moting has been infected with the coronavirus. According to the club, the striker is quarantined at home and is currently ‚doing well‘.

After Jamal Musiala and Benjamin Pavard, Choupo Moting becomes the next Bayern player to have tested positive for COVID-19. The striker will be most likely out of action for a week, similarly to Pavard and Musiala. The Cameroonian is also vaccinated and will miss the game against SC Freiburg on the weekend.

Choupo Moting was crucial in equalling the aggregate score against Algeria for the FIFA World Cup qualification. The Cameroonian scored one goal that ensured hope for his country and the match went through extra time.

Cameroon were able to win the match and thus sail through the World Cup finals.
