Kingsley Coman has admitted he considered leaving Bayern Munich last summer. The Champions League final hero was linked with a switch to Premier League giants Manchester United, but eventually decided against the move.
The Frenchman has established himself as a vital cog in Hansi Flick’s side, and was attracking a ton of attention from top clubs around the world in the summer. United’s rivals, Manchester City, were also reportedly interested in the 24-year-old.
In an interview with Telefoot (h/t Abendzeitung), Coman revealed that he had thought about leaving Bavaria for foreign pastures.
“Last summer I asked myself such questions,” he said. “The current situation is completely different. I feel very good, I play a lot and I get on well with the coach.”
Earlier this year, the winger admitted he was “flattered” by links to United, but played down talk of a move.
“Knowing that good teams are interested in me is good, it gives me extra confidence,” Coman told Sport Bild.
“But I have a contract here until 2023, I only think about Bayern. It’s all good, I’m happy.”
Coman does not rule out future move
However, he did add that he would not rule out a move in the future, but insists he will fulfil his contract with Bayern.
“One day I might want to discover something else,” he added. “I have another two years contract here and I think we have the best team in Europe at the moment, so everything is ready for me to stay.”
