Kingsley Coman believes Bayern Munich are capable of defending the European title just like La Liga giants Real Madrid recently

Bayern Munich clinched the UEFA Champions League title last season in style, without losing a single match. They managed to defeat Chelsea FC 7-1, FC Barcelona 8-2, and Olympique Lyon 3-0 during the pre-quarter, quarter, and semi-final of the coveted European tournament.

The Bavarians faced Paris Saint Germaine in the final at Estadio da Luz where both teams failed to get ahead until the interval. However, the German club took the lead through Coman’s superbly placed header in the corner past Keylor Navas. The goal settled a tight final in Lisbon.

To score the decisive goal against the French outfit in the final of the Champions League makes Coman very proud and the 24-year-old thinks that Bayern has full potential to defend the Champions League title this season.

Real Madrid won back-to-back three Champions League titles before Bayern clinched the European title in 2019-20. Coman, who joined from Juventus FC for a reported 21 million Euro fee back in 2017, said that he is inspired by what the Spanish club achieved over the years.

“We’re young or in our prime, so we still have time! We can and want to defend the title,” Coman said.

Bayern Munich is tied against Lazio in the round of 16. They’ll be playing the first leg at Stadio Olimpico before hosting the Italian outfit at Allianz Arena. However, there’s no surety whether the fans will be able to attend the games.

“I’m sure that we can shape an era with this team. After winning the 2020 Champions League title without fans, I want to celebrate the 2021 title with our fans. That’s why we have to defend this trophy!” The Serie A winner added.
