FC Bayern can expect a very special atmosphere at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening. In the second round of the DFB Cup, the record German champions will host 1. FC Magdeburg. This could result in an extraordinary crowd in the stands. The second-division club will be accompanied to Munich by a huge contingent of supporters.
For 1. FC Magdeburg fans, the away game against the record German champions is one of the absolute highlights of the season. Anticipation is correspondingly high for the matchup against Vincent Kompany’s team, which is currently being coached by assistant coach Aaron Danks.
As Sky reports, club officials expect around 12,000 to 13,000 fans to make the trip to Munich. This could mean the Allianz Arena sees one of the largest visiting crowds in recent years.
Magdeburg fans create an extraordinary cup atmosphere
The expected number of visiting fans is remarkable. During Bundesliga matches, significantly fewer seats are typically available for visiting teams’ supporters at the Allianz Arena.
However, different rules apply in the DFB Cup. Visiting clubs are generally allocated a larger ticket allocation than during regular league play.
Magdeburg fans are known for their vocal support. FCM fans have already created a special atmosphere at numerous away games in the past.
Now they want to make a strong statement in Munich as well and support their team against the overwhelming favorites.
If as many as 13,000 Magdeburg fans do make the trip, the visitors’ support is unlikely to be limited to the regular visitors’ section alone.
Bayern aims to clear the next hurdle in the cup

On the field, Munich enters the match as the clear favorite. Following their 3-1 away win at SC Freiburg, the record champions aim to continue their winning streak in the DFB Cup and advance to the round of 16.
Bayern will still have to do without head coach Vincent Kompany. The 40-year-old is still under medical care following his collapse last Friday.
Until further notice, Aaron Danks will take charge on the sidelines alongside the existing coaching staff.
For the visitors from Magdeburg, however, the match offers an opportunity to pull off an upset on one of German soccer’s biggest stages.
The support of the traveling fans could prove to be a key factor.
For Bayern, this means they’ll have to brace themselves for loud support from the opposing fans—even in their own stadium.
Kickoff is set for Wednesday evening at 8:45 p.m. Then we’ll see whether the Magdeburg fans will indeed provide one of the largest visiting crowds the Allianz Arena has seen in recent years.
