FC Bayern and Harry Kane—this chapter could soon be extended by several years. But this past summer, FC Barcelona apparently made an approach. And Munich is said to have responded by setting a remarkable price tag.
If Kane wanted to leave, it would only be for an astronomical price: The top Spanish club is said to have expressed interest in the English striker—and Bayern’s response is said to have shattered all previous records at Säbener Straße.
As reported by Fussballdaten.de, the Munich club reportedly demanded at least 120 to 130 million euros for Kane. That’s a sum the German record champion has never before received from a sale.
To put that in perspective: The three most expensive transfers in the club’s history each brought in just 45 million euros. That’s how much Manchester United paid for Matthijs de Ligt in 2024, Paris Saint-Germain paid for Lucas Hernandez a year earlier, and FC Barcelona paid for Robert Lewandowski in 2022.
Barça is said to have quickly backed off
According to the report, such a high asking price would have definitively deterred the Catalans—it’s incompatible with the club’s current financial strategy. No real negotiations took place anyway: Barça reportedly received no signals from the player indicating a desire to move and therefore quickly called off its efforts.

FC Bayern has very different plans for Kane. At the top of the agenda is extending his contract beyond its 2027 expiration date. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a meeting between club officials and the forward is already scheduled for after the World Cup. The details of a new contract are expected to be discussed at that time.
A look at Kane’s record explains why Munich is willing to bet so big: Since his reported €95 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, the 32-year-old has scored 146 goals in 147 competitive matches. For now, however, his focus is on the World Cup. With England, he’ll face Erling Haaland’s Norway in the quarterfinals on Saturday (11:00 p.m.)—Kane has six goals and one assist in five World Cup matches so far.
