The separation between FC Bayern and its Thomas Tuchel seemed to be sealed. However, due to the numerous cancellations in recent weeks, the 50-year-old is now moving closer to staying. As has now become known, Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are fighting for further co-operation with Tuchel.
On Monday, Bayern’s supervisory board gave its fundamental go-ahead for Thomas Tuchel to remain at the club. According to several media outlets, talks between the club and the coach have been ongoing since then.
The fact that Tuchel advisor Olaf Meinking visited Säbener Straße on Wednesday shows just how concrete these talks are.
Hoeneß would not veto
According to Sky, Tuchel is open to staying on beyond the current season. However, the 50-year-old is demanding the full backing of the bosses.
According to information from kicker, the head of sport Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are „fighting“ internally at FCB for exactly that. The reason: not all those responsible in Munich are currently behind the idea of continuing with Tuchel.
Interestingly, a veto from Hoeneß should not prevent Tuchel from staying. The 72-year-old is said to be „flexible enough“ to give his approval if everyone at the club is convinced of this solution, according to kicker. The honorary president and Tuchel recently had a public exchange of blows.

It remains to be seen whether Karl-Heinz Rummenigge will be so easily convinced. According to Sky, the former Bayern CEO is also a Tuchel sceptic.
Under what conditions Tuchel could stay
One thing is also clear: in addition to Hoeneß and Rummenigge, Eberl must also convince Tuchel himself to stay.
According to Sky and kicker, he is demanding a contract extension beyond the summer of 2025. The reasons for this are obvious: Tuchel does not want to step in as an interim solution should Jürgen Klopp and/or possibly Xabi Alonso land on the coaching market in a year’s time.
