FC Bayern has tied Alexander Nübel to the club with a new long-term contract. Now it is known: There are two interesting clauses in the goalkeeper’s contract.

Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is the designated successor to Manuel Neuer at FC Bayern. The Munich club therefore signed him to a new contract last week. The key figures were communicated by the club: The contract runs until 2029, and Nübel will continue to be loaned out to VfB Stuttgart for the next two seasons, as he has been this season.

However, further interesting details about Nübel’s new contract have now been revealed: According to information from Sky, an annual loan fee in the low single-digit millions will be due to Stuttgart.

On the other hand, according to the report, Bayern will be able to bring the goalkeeper to Munich as early as the summer of 2025. The reason: Bayern captain Neuer’s contract expires then. Should the national goalkeeper then decide to end his career or move on, the German record champions could immediately install Nübel as his successor. No financial compensation would be due for this. Bayern would simply have to meet a deadline in order to trigger this clause.

Nübel’s contract could be automatically extended

The second exciting clause: If Nübel does not return to Bayern until 2026, his contract would automatically be extended by a further year according to Sky and would therefore run until the summer of 2030. Should he then actually become Neuer’s successor, Bayern would have secured their new number 1 for the next four seasons.

Nübel joined Bayern from Schalke 04 on a free transfer in 2020. One year later, he was loaned to AS Monaco for two seasons. This was followed by a loan to VfB Stuttgart, where Nübel is currently putting in consistently strong performances and is on course for the Champions League.
