On Saturday, FC Bayern routed RB Leipzig 6-1 in the Bundesliga at their home stadium, the Allianz Arena. Now, Vincent Kompany and his team are looking to get back on track in the Champions League as well.
Following the disappointing 3-3 draw in Stavanger, the German record champions must now face Arsenal. The Gunners have gotten off to a perfect start in the Champions League with two wins in their first two matches.

Bayern has the edge in head-to-head matchups
In the last ten meetings between the two teams across all competitions, Munich has come away with the win four times. Arsenal has won three matches, while three others ended in draws.
The record in the Champions League is particularly noteworthy.
In the Round of 16 of the 2016–17 season, Bayern celebrated two historic victories. The record champions won both the first leg in Munich and the second leg in London by a score of 5–1.
As early as November 2015, Munich had thrashed Arsenal 5–1 at the Allianz Arena.
However, the balance of power has shifted recently. In their most recent matchup on November 26, 2025, Bayern suffered a 1–3 defeat in London.
For Vincent Kompany’s team, Wednesday’s match is therefore also an opportunity to put that defeat behind them.
Recent results also show that Munich has been particularly successful against Arsenal on home turf.
In their last ten matches combined, Bayern scored 22 goals, while Arsenal managed 15. The three decisive 5-1 victories from 2015 and 2017 alone account for a large portion of that goal tally.
