The relief among Bayern fans after Ralf Rangnick’s cancellation is likely to be huge. Numerous FCB supporters have spoken out against the 65-year-old’s commitment. The fans are still hoping that Thomas Tuchel will stay and have now launched a new campaign.

The online petition „We want Juppel (Thomas Tuchel) and not Rangnick!“ has received more than 19,000 signatures in the past ten days. With this curious campaign, Bayern fans have sent a clear message to the management team in Munich – we want to see Thomas Tuchel as head coach on the touchline in the new season.

Even if the petition (presumably) had no influence on Rangnick’s cancellation, at least one goal of the project was achieved. Now FCB fans are also hoping for a happy ending with Thomas Tuchel.

„His handling of talent speaks for itself“

To emphasise their wish, the Bayern fans have written an open letter to Honorary President Uli Hoeneß. From the supporters‘ perspective, the 72-year-old is the biggest stumbling block to Tuchel remaining at the club. Hoeneß recently had a public spat with the still-Bayern coach and publicly criticised him for his treatment of young players.

In the letter to the club patron, reference is made to the fact that Tuchel has led FCB to another Champions League semi-final after four years. In view of Leverkusen’s historic season, the points haul in the Bundesliga is not so bad either.

The accusation that Tuchel is not developing young talent is also incorrect: „His handling of talent also speaks for itself. He integrated Pavlovic, who was completely unknown until recently, into the first team or gave players such as Zvonarek, Aznou or Krätzig their first appearances with the professionals,“ the letter states.

There is no better coach on the market than Tuchel

According to the fans, there is currently no better coach than Tuchel for FC Bayern: „Thomas Tuchel is an outstanding coach, one of the best in the world. There is no-one on the current coaching market who is anywhere near as good,“ the fans comment on the sluggish search for a coach.

The letter is intended to „make Hoeneß think“. According to the letter, „you also have to be able to jump over your shadow and admit a mistake“. It is also interesting to note that Tuchel „does not exactly give the impression that he is completely averse to continuing his work in Munich.“ The 50-year-old caused a stir on Friday with his statement that „anything is always possible“ when he was asked about a possible stay at the record champions.

The letter ends with a clear appeal to Hoeneß: „Uli Hoeneß, you have done so many great things for FC Bayern. The fans of FC Bayern are eternally grateful to you for this. Resolving the differences with Thomas Tuchel and thus initiating another successful collaboration would be another great decision.“

It will be exciting to see whether Hoeneß actually agrees to this request.
