The future of Bayern star Joshua Kimmich beyond the current season remains unclear. The 29-year-old midfielder has now also spoken about possible career paths after active sport. The DFB star is flirting with a move to the coaching bench.

Joshua Kimmich is known as a focussed footballer who enters every game with absolute determination and passion – qualities that are also important for a coach. Even though Kimmich certainly has a few good years ahead of him at the age of 29, he is still considering the question of what to do after his active professional career.

The FCB star makes no secret of the fact that he is definitely toying with the idea of tackling another career as a coach: „Sometimes yes and sometimes no. But yes, maybe yes, because I love football,“ he explained in an interview with the Spanish sports newspaper AS.

„I want to play for as long as possible“

However, he has not yet made a final decision in this regard: „I want to play for as long as possible. Being on the touchline after my career could be interesting. But on the other hand, it could also be appealing to break the rhythm and do something completely different. I hope that I still have a long career ahead of me and can think about this decision in a few years‘ time.“

Kimmich also leaves the question of his short-term future at FC Bayern open: „That’s a really interesting question for me, but it’s not the most important thing at the moment. I know that when you sign a contract, you don’t sign it with the coach. You sign with the club. For me, the club is the most important thing, not just the coach. But of course it’s also important to know what the coach thinks about you and the team.“
