Player swap with Real on the cards? Bayern set their sights on Ferland Mendy!

There are increasing signs that Alphonso Davies will leave FC Bayern at the end of the season. Contract talks between the Munich club and the Canadian are in danger of collapsing. According to the latest reports, FCB have found a successor for Davies in the Spanish La Liga.

For a long time, Theo Hernandez from AC Milan was considered FC Bayern’s preferred solution should Alphonso Davies leave the club in the summer. The problem: Milan boss Giorgio Furlani recently emphasised that the Frenchman is not for sale.

As the French newspaper L’Equipe now reports, a new candidate for the left side of defence has already been identified in Munich. According to the report, the record champions are looking at Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid.

Ancelotti wants to keep Mendy

According to L’Equipe, Bayern have positioned themselves with the 28-year-old should Davies actually leave the club. According to the newspaper, this could lead to a swap deal between Real and Bayern. The Whites are considered the top favourites to sign Davies.

Mendy is in a similar situation to the Canadian at FCB. His contract only runs until 2025 and the nine-time French international has yet to receive an offer from Real for an extension, despite the fact that Carlo Ancelotti would like to keep him. Mendy has made 32 appearances under Ancelotti this season.

However, those in charge at Madrid tend to favour Davies. Mendy has repeatedly been criticised at Real in recent years. Left-back is considered to be the biggest problem area in the Real squad.

In view of the market value of the two players, however, it is unlikely to be a 1:1 swap. Mendy is valued at 20 million euros by Transfermarkt. Davies, on the other hand, is valued at 60 million euros.

One thing is clear: the two clubs will have the opportunity to discuss a possible swap transfer in the coming weeks as they face each other in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
