After Arsenal is before Real Madrid. FC Bayern will face the Whites in the semi-finals of the Champions League. FCB coach Thomas Tuchel has great respect for his opponent.

FC Bayern have reason to celebrate their quarter-final victory over FC Arsenal – but the German record champions are already looking towards Real Madrid. The Spanish league leaders will be Munich’s opponents in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Coach Thomas Tuchel was also thinking about the game against Real immediately after his team’s 1:0 win in the second leg against the Londoners (first leg 2:2).

„It will be very different, because Real Madrid’s style is very different to Arsenal’s,“ said Tuchel at the post-match press conference at the Allianz Arena: „I haven’t watched Real Madrid too often this season.“

The semi-final first leg against Real will take place on 30 April at the Allianz Arena in Munich, with the second leg a week later (8 May) at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The Madrilenians defeated Manchester City in their quarter-final.

Tuchel: „Semi-final against the biggest club in the world“

Speaking about Bayern’s clash with the Spanish record champions, Tuchel continued: „It’s one of the most difficult games you can play. A semi-final against the biggest club in the world. We’re looking forward to the challenge and hope that we can rise to the occasion.“

With regard to the current injury situation at FC Bayern, the 50-year-old said: „Hopefully we’ll get some players back so that we have alternatives and a full bench.“

Tuchel’s verdict on the clash with Arsenal was positive. He analysed: „In terms of team performance and the willingness to make sacrifices and suffer together, this is the benchmark. There is no other way to play football at this level.“
