Reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League is a great satisfaction for Thomas Tuchel. The 50-year-old has had to put up with a lot of criticism at FC Bayern in recent months. By reaching the semi-finals, Tuchel has achieved a very special feat in the premier class.

„That was a lot of fun,“ emphasised Thomas Tuchel after Bayern’s 1:0 win against FC Arsenal. The Munich head coach looked visibly satisfied and praised his team for their strong performance in the quarter-final second leg against the Gunners: „We did very well as a team.“

Tuchel achieves unique milestone in the premier class

Tuchel knows exactly what it feels like to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. Before reaching the semi-finals with Munich, Tuchel achieved this feat with Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and Chelsea FC just one year later. With PSG, Tuchel lost out to his current employers Bayern in the CL final (0:1). However, the 50-year-old went on to win the trophy with the Blues.

The outgoing Bayern coach has made (German) CL history by reaching the last four of the top flight once again. He is the first German coach to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League with three different clubs.
