Chris Führich is currently an absolute top performer at VfB Stuttgart. So it’s no wonder that the 26-year-old’s performances have attracted the attention of top clubs such as FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. However, BVB are now rumoured to have dropped out of the race for the winger.
According to Sport BILD, Führich wants to move to FC Bayern. The player has been dreaming of playing for the German record champions for years. Meanwhile, Führich has also long been an issue at BVB, where the winger played in his youth. However, the exit clause of 23.5 million euros in Führich’s contract is proving difficult to realise for Dortmund for various reasons.
On the one hand, BVB’s current priority is not to sign a new winger, with the current fifth-placed team in the table in particular needing to add personnel in full-back and centre-back. Furthermore, qualification for the Champions League is currently uncertain, which could have a significant impact on the club’s future. A move for the VfB star would therefore not be a step forward at the moment. Munich are therefore currently the favourites in the race for the winger.
BVB would benefit from Bayern deal
If Führich were to move to Munich next summer, BVB could still benefit. According to Sport BILD, Dortmund would receive a sum of one million euros in this case. When Führich moved from Paderborn to VfB Stuttgart for €2.5 million in the summer of 2021, it was agreed that the club’s biggest sponsors would benefit if he was sold on.
In this case, both clubs would receive a total of 10 per cent of the proceeds. If the transfer fee of €2.5 million is deducted from the transfer fee, the result is €20 million. This means that the five per cent that would go to BVB would result in one million euros for Dortmund.
