In an interview, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, currently a member of the supervisory board at FC Bayern, speaks in praise of the signing of Harry Kane, even if he describes the record champions‘ decision as „courageous“.
„I think we can all pat ourselves on the back for bringing Harry here. Paying 100 million for a 30-year-old was also astonishingly brave from FC Bayern’s point of view. But it was absolutely the right decision,“ said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in an interview with t-online. Brave, but right – that was Rummenigge’s verdict on the Kane deal, in which the 68-year-old was also involved thanks to his good connections.
Kane without a title? Rummenigge: „C’est la vie“
Will Harry Kane, often mocked by critics for his lack of titles at Tottenham Hotspur, remain untitled at FC Bayern Munich of all clubs? Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was asked how sorry he would feel for superstar Harry Kane in that case. „In that case, I could only refer to a nice French proverb. When asked, the 68-year-old then revealed the proverb: „C’est la vie.“ In German: „That’s life.“ At least publicly, the official is relaxed about the possibility of losing the title.
„If we really don’t win anything this year, then we’ll just have to do better next year,“ said the former CEO in a hardened tone. However, the British superstar can still achieve individual goals. In this regard, Rummenigge was asked whether he believed that Kane would beat the Bundesliga record of 41 goals. „I didn’t think it was possible that Gerd Müller’s record would be broken. Robert has done it. Will Harry Kane now score another eleven goals in eight games? Let’s see,“ was his open answer.
