Will Philipp Lahm join FC Bayern after his role as European Championship director? Apparently there are such aspirations in the camp of the German record champions.

In hindsight, it can only be described as a mistake that two ex-Bayern stars, Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn, were promoted to the Bayern management team. The work of Oliver Kahn in particular was publicly criticised.

According to BILD, Bayern bosses are still keen to bring in deserving former FCB players. The names of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm are being bandied about for a Bayern job.

Bayern job? Lahm free after EM

Philipp Lahm in particular is likely to be the centre of attention after the upcoming European Championship in Germany, because as tournament director he will be virtually without official employment after the tournament. According to the report, he could perhaps be of interest to Bayern afterwards.

However, it was not reported exactly what role the 40-year-old would be given.

The same also applies to Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller. Both are approaching the end of their careers. Here, too, a career as an official in Munich could be on the horizon and appealing. The desire of Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to let former Bayern greats run the show behind the scenes has outlasted the Kahn/Salihamidzic era.

Coming from the youth ranks of the Munich district club FT Gern, Philipp Lahm moved to FC Bayern Munich at the age of eleven, with whom he won the treble and numerous other titles in 2013. In the Bayern shirt, he developed into one of the best full-backs in the world.

Since ending his playing career, he has worked as an entrepreneur. He is Managing Director of DFB Euro GmbH and is currently involved in the planning and organisation of the home European Championship.
