With the defeat at Manchester City, at the latest, the coaching effect at FC Bayern is likely to have fizzled out again. Within a week, Thomas Tuchel’s team lost two titles with the cup defeat against SC Freiburg and the clear first-leg defeat in Manchester. Nevertheless, criticism of the new Bayern coach remains absent for the time being. One reason is probably a free pass for Thomas Tuchel until the end of the season.

FC Bayern received a lot of criticism for the change of coach from Julian Nagelsmann to Thomas Tuchel. The decision came as a surprise not only to the fans but also to the players of the German record champion, as the Munich team was still represented in all competitions at the time of the release. The Bayern bosses around Oliver Kahn, Hasan Salihamidzic & Co. justified the separation from Nagelsmann with the acute threat to the sporting goals.

With the installation of Thomas Tuchel as the new coach, the Munich management wanted to provide a breath of fresh air in order to still achieve the desired goals. However, those in charge made a bet that they had already all but lost after four competitive games. The bosses were convinced that the 49-year-old could lead the team to the triple at the first attempt. However, this dream has already been shattered with the cup defeat against Freiburg and the first leg defeat at the Citizens. Especially in these games, it became clear that Tuchel needs more time to instil his playful automatisms into the team.

Tuchel’s performance will not be judged until the summer

Even though FC Bayern is already in danger of losing two titles within a week under Thomas Tuchel, there is no new coach discussion in Munich yet for several reasons. On the one hand, the 49-year-old has only had a few training sessions to get to know the team. Thus, the new coach has not really had the opportunity to implement his idea of the game. In addition, Tuchel currently has to work with the existing player material and has not yet been able to make any personnel changes in cooperation with the bosses. Another reason, however, is probably the club’s own external image. If those responsible were to question Tuchel now, the image loss would increase even further due to the questionable Nagelsmann release.

According to „Sport BILD“, these reasons are likely to have led Kahn & Co. to decide not to evaluate Thomas Tuchel’s sporting results any further for the time being. They want to give the new coach the necessary time to implement his ideas and impulses regarding squad planning and playing philosophy in the long term.

For Thomas Tuchel and his team, it is now a matter of finishing the season properly in order to make a complete reorientation for the coming season in the summer.
