FC Bayern has signed a new goalkeeping coach. As the Munich-based club announced on Wednesday, Michael Rechner is moving from TSG Hoffenheim to the Bavarian side.

In recent days, numerous reports already made the news, now it’s official. FC Bayern has found a successor for Toni Tapalovic. As the club has confirmed in a statement, Michael Rechner moves from league rivals TSG Hoffenheim to the German record champion.

Nagelsmann gets his desired solution

Rechner had been responsible for the entire goalkeeping area at TSG since 2008 as „coordinator goalkeeping“ and had managed the goalkeepers of the professional team from 2015. The 41-year-old is considered the absolute desired solution of head coach Julian Nagelsmann. The two still know each other from their times together at TSG. According to reports, Bayern will pay Hoffenheim a six-figure transfer fee.

The former professional (Waldhof Mannheim, Hamburger SV II, Schweinfurt, among others) once began his coaching career in the youth sector at Hoffenheim and has developed and trained numerous top keepers in recent years. Among them are goalkeepers like Koen Casteels (Wolfsburg), Gregor Kobel (Dortmund), Marvin Schwäbe (Cologne) and Hoffenheim’s current number 1 Oliver Baumann.
