Bayern Munich are reportedly concerned about Bejamin Pavard’s form this season.
Pavard has not quite been himself since suffering a metatarsal injury that cost him his place in the the final rounds of the Champions League last season.
Joshua Kimmich filled in for him at right-back in the wins against Chelsea, Barcelona, Olympique Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain.
Hansi Flick restored Pavard to his natural position at the start of the season, but quickly replaced him with Niklas Sule before the winter break.
According to BILD, the club are “shocked and worried” about the drop in performances of Pavard this season.
The French defender also had a poor start to the new year as he was substituted at half time against Mainz by Leon Goretzka.
“The changes did us good; in the end they were exactly right,” Flick said after the game.
“On the outside, particularly on the right side, we did not have all too many situations we were satisfied with.
“Especially for outside-backs, it’s important that we make fewer mistakes and give impetus forwards.
“Joshua Kimmich showed how it’s done in the second half.”
Pavard are has been rather underwhelming this season and has not been involved in any goals, unlike last season, when he chipped in with four goals and five assists in the Bundesliga.
Back in December, Kicker had reported that Pavard’s average in the Bundesliga fell to 3.24 to 4.19 in the previous season.
All eyes will be on Pavard for the rest of the season. If he is unable to find his form, Bayern may be forced to look for alternatives during the summer transfer window.
