Former Liverpool and Bayern Munich midfielder Dietmar Hamann has claimed that Kingsley Coman can replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool for a while, sparking further debate after he hinted to AS in December that he could leave the club.
The Egyptian also admitted he was disappointed that Jurgen Klopp did not name him captain for Liverpool’s Champions League clash against FC Midtjylland.
And Hamann believes Coman can replace Salah if he decides to leave the Reds.
“For me, the best winger out there at the moment is Kingsley Coman,” Hamann told Stadium Astro.
“He had injury problems when he came to Munich but he got fit and scored the winner in the Champions League final. He’s two-footed, he’s quick, he’s very clever, great decision making and his finishing has improved a lot.
“Coman is the player. Bayern Munich aren’t interested in losing him, he’s happy. If Salah were to move, if he wants to go, which might be quite likely, that will have a knock-on effect.
“Liverpool will have to buy somebody. Whoever they sign, that team will need to buy a replacement. Things happen quickly.”
Hamann also spoke about David Alaba’s future and added that the Austrian’s preferred destination will be a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“Alaba’s preferred destination is Spain. The fact Liverpool is interested is not surprising,” he said.
“Alaba has probably been the best centre-back in Europe behind van Dijk over the past 12-18 months. I don’t see Bayern letting him go in January.
“Upamecano is a tremendous centre-back but Leipzig won’t let him go in January. I don’t see them getting a defender that will improve them in January.
“These clubs won’t sell. I would stay put, I don’t see any of the top clubs letting their best players go.”
Bayern fans, however, don’t have anything to worry about just yet. Coman is an important part of Hansi Flick’s team and already has a hand in 14 goals during his 15 games this season.
