Noel Aseko is one of the most intriguing players at FC Bayern this transfer window. While Eintracht Frankfurt is working hard to sign the U21 national team player, there are many reasons why Munich should give the talented midfielder a chance themselves first.
FC Bayern reacquired Noel Aseko from Hannover 96 just a few weeks ago via a buyback option. For around 2.5 million euros, the Munich club secured the services of the German U21 international after he had shown remarkable development in the 2. Bundesliga.
The plan was actually clear: Aseko was supposed to showcase his abilities during summer training under Vincent Kompany and be given the chance to earn a spot on the first-team roster.
This makes the current developments surrounding Eintracht Frankfurt all the more interesting.
Frankfurt sees Aseko as a player for the future
According to consistent media reports, Eintracht is taking a close interest in the 20-year-old. Sporting director Markus Krösche is said to be in talks with Bayern officials.
In Frankfurt, Aseko would undoubtedly find attractive prospects. Following several personnel changes in the squad, the Hessian club is facing a major overhaul in which young players with development potential are set to play a central role.
His chances of regular playing time would likely be significantly greater in Frankfurt than with the German record champions.
A transfer would also be financially feasible for Frankfurt. Especially following potential sales, Eintracht could invest a sum in the tens of millions.
Kompany is said to be convinced by Aseko

Nevertheless, there are good reasons why Bayern shouldn’t act too hastily.
Particularly interesting: According to sources close to the club, Vincent Kompany has already indicated that he wants to keep a close eye on Aseko during preseason. At the coach’s request, an attractive offer has even already been turned down.
That alone shows that the Belgian has high hopes for the midfielder.
Added to this is the current personnel situation in Munich’s midfield. With Leon Goretzka’s departure, FC Bayern is losing not only an experienced leader but also important depth on the roster. Furthermore, Raphael Guerreiro was repeatedly deployed in central midfield last season and will no longer be available there to the same extent in the future.
This creates new opportunities for young players.
Aseko brings exactly the qualities that are currently in demand: dynamism, game intelligence, flexibility, and strong ball distribution.
More than just a midfielder
His versatile profile is particularly exciting. The U-21 national team player can not only play in central midfield but also possesses the technical and tactical skills to be deployed in other positions.
In some respects, his playing style is reminiscent of modern hybrid players who can take on various roles within a system.
This could be a major advantage, especially under Kompany, who values flexible and skillful players.
Test first, then decide
Of course, a sale remains a possibility.
Max Eberl is under pressure to generate transfer revenue in order to finance further signings. Should Frankfurt submit a compelling offer, Bayern will certainly consider it.
Nevertheless, there are many reasons to wait and see how the preseason goes first.
Aseko has earned his chance and could be exactly the type of player the Munich team needs in its roster. If, after the first few weeks of training, it becomes clear that his prospects in Munich are limited, a transfer can still be considered.
At this point, however, a sale would be premature. For FC Bayern, Noel Aseko could very well be more than just a transfer target by the summer of 2026—namely, a genuine internal reinforcement.
