FC Bayern sent out a clear signal in Europe with their 2-1 away win at Real Madrid and have put themselves in an excellent starting position for the Champions League quarter-finals. The Munich side are currently in impressive form and are on course for the treble. But despite their strong performance, head coach Vincent Kompany still sees room for improvement in his team
Even after the success in the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, the Belgian remains true to his line and consistently focuses on further development. In the press talk before the Bundesliga match against FC St. Pauli, Kompany made it clear that FC Bayern’s standards remain high
Kompany sets clear standards
„Our goal is to always deliver the very best performance,“ explained the 40-year-old, underlining the record champions‘ ambitions. He is aware that this level is not always easy to achieve: „The very best is difficult because we have won 16 games in a row this season.“
This streak serves as an internal benchmark for the team, and Kompany is keen to replicate this level of performance in the decisive phase of the season: „That’s the benchmark, and we want to achieve it again in the final phase of the season.“
Success as a driver – not the end point

Despite the impressive results, the Bayern coach sees no reason to rest on his laurels. Instead, he sees the current success as the basis for further development. „That’s always a common goal. But when we look back, we know that we’re doing a lot of things right at the moment,“ said Kompany
At the same time, he remains critical and calls for further steps forward: „But improvement is always possible.“
This attitude reflects the mentality Kompany has instilled in the team since taking up his post: FC Bayern not only wants to win, but also to continuously improve – regardless of results or opponents
It is precisely this approach that could be decisive in the hot phase of the season, because while many teams slow down after major successes, the record champions remain hungry – and that is precisely what makes them one of the most dangerous teams in Europe at the moment.
