When the 25-year-old came to England in the winter, Southampton were still stuck in mid-table. Just a few weeks later, the picture is completely different: the team has been unbeaten for twelve games and has moved up to sixth place – with a realistic chance of promotion to the Premier League
Peretz himself seems transformed and confirms his strong form with clear words: „I feel better and better from game to game. Now I feel better than ever before.“
The key to his upturn in form lies above all in the regular playing time. While he was only used sporadically at FC Bayern, he is between the posts week in, week out at Southampton. „It’s the first time since I moved to FC Bayern that I’ve played regularly,“ Peretz explained in an interview with Transfermarkt. The consistency seems to be giving him exactly what he was missing before
Bayern beckons a transfer bonus
The situation is also looking increasingly positive for FC Bayern, with Southampton holding a purchase option worth eight million euros – around three million more than the Munich club once paid for the keeper
In addition, the English club is currently paying the goalkeeper’s full salary, which makes the deal even more attractive
Whether Southampton take up the option to buy is likely to depend largely on their sporting performance in the coming weeks. Promotion to the Premier League would significantly increase the chances of a permanent signing
