With new coach Vincent Kompany, FC Bayern can now turn its attention to squad planning for the coming season. Among other things, there could be a shake-up in Munich’s midfield. The Belgian coach apparently already has plans for the centre of the German record champions.

According to Münchner tz ,Kompany is planning to keep both Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. While Kimmich could continue to occupy the right-back position, Goretzka would have to adjust to changes in Bayern’s midfield. Kompany is therefore a big fan of rotation and is planning with a centre without fixed regular players.

Goretzka would therefore have to reckon with not being a regular in the centre, as several players could be used regularly. Aleksandar Pavlovic will certainly also get his playing time. There have also been repeated reports of possible new arrivals for the centre of midfield.

According to media reports, Kompany does not have any certain favourites in the Bayern squad. Alongside Kimmich and Goretzka, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry are therefore also not on the sidelines, although they were previously frequently mentioned as candidates to be dropped. The German record champions‘ most recently criticised players should also get their chance under the Belgian.

Goretzka must be prepared for rotation

Recently, there has also been repeated speculation about the possible departures of Goretzka and Kimmich. While the third captain of the German record champions is rumoured to be FC Barcelona’s preferred candidate for a transfer, Goretzka is not a certainty either.

The ex-Bochum man must now decide whether he can cope with the rotation in defensive midfield or whether he would prefer a new challenge.

According to media reports, Kompany will sign a three-year contract in Munich. The Bavarians are expected to pay just under €10.5 million to Burnley FC, where the Belgian last played.
