Will Julian Nagelsmann make a comeback at FC Bayern after the European Football Championship? According to the latest reports, the 36-year-old has been shortlisted in the search for a new head coach. As has now become known, not all FCB stars are enthusiastic about the idea.

Even though sporting director Max Eberl has recently been very reserved when asked about a possible return of Julian Nagelsmann, the 50-year-old is said to be „not averse“ to the idea, as reported by kicker.

According to BILD, Eberl has been in contact with the Nagelsmann side for some time. It remains to be seen how concrete the talks are. According to BILD, the current national coach can very well imagine a comeback at the German record champions, even though he was shown the door virtually overnight almost a year ago.

Has Nagelsmann really moved on?

In the past few days, reports have been doing the rounds that not all Bayern bosses are convinced about a Nagelsmann comeback. According to kicker, there are also some players who have doubts about this idea. These are said to include national team players who are currently seeing the football coach at the DFB.

The question being asked in Munich is whether Nagelsmann has actually learnt from the mistakes he made during his first tenure at FCB. Another point that is being hotly debated at Säbener Straße is the fact that Nagelsmann’s return would be characterised by „little inspiration and conviction“. The club would run the risk of the problems from back then being „ignored“. In plain language: Nagelsmann does not necessarily stand for a real spirit of optimism, which is absolutely necessary in the summer.

However, it is also clear that there are many points in Nagelsmann‘s favour. Among other things, the fact that he is available on a free transfer in the summer and knows the club and its structures and challenges very well. The fact that club patron Uli Hoeneß and Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen are open to the idea of bringing him back should also not be underestimated.
