Three straight wins: BVB heads to Munich with confidence
BVB heads to Munich brimming with confidence. Following a 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen and a 0-1 loss to FK Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League, Dortmund has recently returned to winning ways: In the Bundesliga, Borussia secured a 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, followed by a 2-1 win at Sabah FK in the Champions League. On Tuesday evening, Dortmund also clinched a spot in the DFB Cup round of 16 with a spectacular 3-2 win over Werder.
Since the Bundesliga was founded, Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern will face off for the 141st time tonight. No other match in German professional soccer has been played more often. FC Bayern has lost only one of its last 17 competitive matches against BVB. During that span, they recorded 13 wins and three draws.
In February 2026, FC Bayern prevailed 3–2 in Dortmund. Prior to that, the record champions had won the first leg of last season’s matchup 2–1 in Munich. In April 2025, the two teams played to a 2–2 draw in Munich. FC Bayern also won the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup in August 2026 by a score of 2–1.
Dortmund has now gone five head-to-head matches without a win against the record champions.
