The German national team faces Greece on the road this Sunday evening. After three games, the DFB squad now has four points to its credit. It was a mixed start, but one that shouldn’t be overanalyzed.
Of course, some Bayern players also thought they had a very good chance of making the starting lineup. National team coach Jürgen Klopp confirmed that Jonas Urbig would play during the press conference ahead of the match against Greece.
It was also clear that Aleksandar Pavlovic would start; he sat next to Klopp at the press conference and answered questions from journalists.
Four Bayern pros start against Greece
Pavlovic, who put in a very strong performance against Serbia, also stated that he wants to make a significant impact and has great confidence in his abilities: “The coach decides my role. But I want to bring my strengths to the team: get the ball every time, control the game, press hard defensively, get into the tackles, and simply help the team both offensively and defensively.“

It’s now clear how the German national team will line up against Greece. As previously announced, Urbig will start in goal to continue gaining playing experience. This was important to national team coach Klopp, as he had already emphasized at the press conference.
In central midfield, Tom Bischof will play alongside Pavlovic. Both players already performed well against Serbia and have great chemistry with each other as well as with Florian Wirtz, who will once again be the playmaker today.
In addition, Lennart Karl will start on the right side. The youngster, who was actually slated to play in the World Cup but suffered a serious injury during preseason, now wants to make his mark with the DFB. He can bring a certain carefree energy to the team, although it’s important to keep in mind that he’s not yet at 100% following his comeback.
