FC Bayern has secured a lucrative buyback option for Maurice Krattenmacher. The arrangement is reminiscent of the Aseko deal.
FC Bayern continues to keep a close eye on Maurice Krattenmacher. The 21-year-old is developing strongly at SV Elversberg—and could still bring a lot to the Munich club in the future, both on the field and financially.
As reported in the BILD podcast “Bayern Insider,” the German record champions hold a buyback clause for Krattenmacher in the amount of 7.5 million euros. For other clubs, however, the attacking player is said to have a release clause of nine million euros.
This puts FC Bayern in an interesting position. Should Krattenmacher’s market value continue to rise, the Munich club could re-sign him at a relatively low cost. Afterward, both keeping him on their roster and reselling him would be options.
A similar model earned Bayern millions with Aseko.
Just how lucrative such arrangements can be was recently demonstrated in the case of Noel Aseko. FC Bayern reacquired the midfielder from Hannover 96 for 2.5 million euros thanks to a buyback option.
Shortly thereafter, a resale to Eintracht Frankfurt was already on the horizon. The transfer fee was later reported to be between 12 and 13 million euros. This gave Bayern the opportunity to make a substantial transfer profit within a short period of time.

A similar scenario could now unfold with Krattenmacher. Should his development in Elversberg continue to show upward momentum, Bayern would have the option—thanks to the clause—to act early and secure the player for 7.5 million euros.
However, a sale is by no means the only option. If Krattenmacher continues to impress on the field, he could once again become a candidate for the Bayern squad.
The Munich club is therefore continuing to monitor his development very closely. In any case, the clause is valuable to the club: Either Bayern gets a more mature player back at a comparatively low price—or it opens up the chance for the next profitable transfer deal.
