Michael Olise often comes across as extremely reserved in public. There’s apparently much more to the Bayern star’s unusual behavior than meets the eye.
Michael Olise regularly thrills FC Bayern fans with spectacular plays on the field. As soon as the game is over, however, a completely different side of Olise often emerges.
During interviews, the 24-year-old often limits himself to just a few words. He poses for “Player of the Match” photos with a serious expression. At the championship celebration, he held the trophy aloft only briefly; in the group championship photo, he even tried to hide as far in the back as possible.
His behavior therefore sparks discussion time and again. However, the impression this creates in the public eye is said to have little to do with the Olise his teammates experience on a daily basis.
Behind the scenes, Olise shows a completely different side
As Sport BILD reports, it takes Olise a long time to build trust with strangers. He often keeps his distance from new staff members, fans, or media representatives. The Frenchman is also said to find large crowds and a lot of attention uncomfortable.
The picture is quite different within the team. There, Olise is considered humorous and popular, even if he’s generally on the quiet side. He reportedly has a particularly close relationship with Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies.
Added to this is a mindset that might explain some of his unusual behavior. Olise is said to hold a traditional view of soccer: the team should be the focus, not the individual superstar. Accordingly, he is reluctant to talk about himself or be the sole center of attention.
He is also highly regarded at Bayern for his professionalism. According to the report, Olise is regularly among the first players to arrive at the training facility and completes additional sessions on the field and in the weight room.
What is occasionally perceived from the outside as aloof superstar behavior seems to be viewed quite differently internally. Olise apparently doesn’t seek much attention—except when he has the ball at his feet.
