An unusual calm has settled over FC Bayern during the long international break. Numerous Munich players are away with their national teams. This is also having a significant impact on Vincent Kompany’s training schedule.
According to information from BILD, there will be no regular team training at Säbener Straße through October 6. Kompany will not reunite his squad on the training field until after the international break is over.
The main reason for this is the large number of players called up to their national teams. While many Bayern pros will be away with their national teams for the entire period, Jürgen Klopp has taken a different approach with the German national team.
Bayern stars receive individual training plans
The German national team coach has divided his XXL squad for the four Nations League matches into two groups. As a result, some German national team players will spend only part of the international break with the DFB and the rest of the time in Munich.
At Säbener Straße, however, this does not mean that regular training can take place. According to BILD, the Bayern players in question are instead following individual training programs.
Most recently, Lennart Karl, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Jonas Urbig had already been training individually in Munich before later joining the national team. Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry, on the other hand, are expected to remain with the DFB for the entire international break to regain their training and match rhythm following their time out of action.
Konrad Laimer is also currently training individually. The Austrian is still in the recovery phase following his injury to his left adductor and is expected to be gradually brought back to full training load.
Preparation for the Augsburg match will not begin until after the break
This creates an unusual situation for Kompany. During a normal international break, a training group can at least be formed with the remaining professional and youth players. This time, however, Bayern will completely forego regular team training sessions for an extended period.
It is not until after October 6 that the focus will shift back entirely to club soccer. That is also when concrete preparations for the next Bundesliga match will begin.
On October 10, they face FC Augsburg on the road. This leaves Kompany with only a few days to reunite his numerous returning players and prepare the team for the next competitive match.
For the Bayern stars, however, the break is by no means a vacation. While the national team players are busy with their respective national teams, the professionals remaining in Munich are working according to individual plans. The familiar sight of a full Bayern squad on the training field at Säbener Straße simply won’t be there until early October.
