It is now clear that Michael Olise will not be joining Real Madrid this summer. However, recent developments at Real Madrid could now make a transfer of the French player even less likely in the future.
Michael Olise has been repeatedly linked with Real Madrid in recent months. According to reports, the 24-year-old even reportedly expressed a desire to play for Real Madrid one day. Bayern, however, did not make a move this summer possible.
In the meantime, however, the situation at Real has changed. The Madrid club recently invested 125 million euros in Yan Diomande and, at the same time, extended Vinicius Junior’s contract through 2032. This is likely to have reduced the need for another high-priced attacking player, at least in the short term.
Real has hardly any room left for Olise
A look at the current roster also doesn’t necessarily point to a quick Olise transfer. In addition to Vinicius Junior and new signing Diomande, Real already boasts tremendous quality on offense with Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, Kylian Mbappé, Bernardo Silva, and Rodrygo.
Under the current circumstances, a transfer for Olise in the near future seems rather unlikely. While a move from Madrid isn’t completely out of the question, the Munich club now has an unexpected advantage.
FC Bayern apparently wants to take advantage of the changed situation to expand its partnership with Olise for the long term. The Frenchman’s contract runs through 2029 anyway. However, an early contract extension could further deter potential suitors.
According to information from BILD, the latest developments at Real Madrid are said to strengthen Bayern’s negotiating position. As a result, the record champions are under no immediate time pressure.
Should a contract extension be agreed upon, however, Olise is likely to move into a new financial bracket. The attacking star would presumably join Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala among the squad’s top earners. So far, however, there have been no concrete talks about an extension.
