FC Bayern is preparing for its next preseason friendly. On Saturday, the Munich team will face RB Leipzig in the Telekom Cup. For the injured Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl, the game is likely still far too soon. Neither of them is training with the team yet.
Preparations are underway at FC Bayern for the start of the season. Before their first official match of the season against Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup on August 22, they’ll face RB Leipzig.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Bayern will face the Saxons at 3:30 p.m. in the Telekom Cup. While some Bayern stars are expected to see action, Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl are unlikely to be in the lineup.
Both offensive players followed an individual training program on Friday. Gnabry and Karl worked separately from the team alongside rehab coach Simon Martinello. Their availability for the match against Leipzig is therefore highly questionable.
Both attacking players have recently been dealing with muscle injuries and are to be brought back gradually without taking any risks.
Davies and Saibari are training with the team
While Gnabry and Karl trained individually, other Bayern stars were already back training with the team. Alphonso Davies, among others, was on the training field.
Today’s training session included, among others: Luis Díaz, Joshua Kimmich, Aleks Pavlović, Alphonso Davies, Tom Bischof, Bara Ndiaye, and João Palhinha. Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl are training individually away from the group with rehab coach Simon Martinello. #FCBRBL #FCBayern 🔴⚪️ pic.twitter.

New signing Ismael Saibari is also able to train with the team following the muscle fiber tear he sustained at the World Cup, as the Moroccan himself explained during his official presentation.
“I’ve recovered well and am now back in full training with the team,” the 25-year-old said. However, it remains uncertain whether he will play in the match against Leipzig.
“I still need to talk to the medical staff, and then we’ll see,” Saibari said.
Kane, Olise, and Upamecano Back at Säbener Straße
In addition, Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Dayot Upamecano have now returned to Säbener Straße. The trio had been granted an extended break following the World Cup and reported back to the record champions on Friday.
However, the trio did not head straight to the training field. First on the agenda were the mandatory medical examinations and performance assessments, before all three are set to begin training on Monday.
The three returnees will not be available for the friendly against RB Leipzig, however.
This means Kompany will still have to do without some of his World Cup returnees against Leipzig. At the same time, the Bayern coach will have the opportunity to give other players valuable playing time and test out different lineups.
