FC Bayern has arrived in Hong Kong, where it is receiving an enthusiastic welcome. Following the first leg of the Audi Summer Tour in South Korea, the Munich team is generating great excitement in the Chinese metropolis as well. Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, in particular, was impressed by the fans’ enthusiasm.
After spending several days on the South Korean island of Jeju, FC Bayern continued its Asian tour in Hong Kong. Several hundred fans were already waiting for Vincent Kompany and his team upon their arrival at the airport. Numerous fans waited for hours to see their stars up close and were subsequently rewarded with autographs and selfies.
The reception left a lasting impression on Jonas Urbig in particular. The goalkeeper was thrilled by the atmosphere in Hong Kong and the passion of the fans.
“The euphoria we’re being met with here in Hong Kong is very, very special,” explained the 22-year-old.

The level of enthusiasm for the German record champions in Hong Kong was once again evident on Thursday morning. During a visit to an Adidas store, Vincent Kompany, Manuel Neuer, Luis Díaz, and Josip Stanisic were once again greeted by hundreds of fans.
The Munich club’s management places great importance on engaging with fans during the Audi Summer Tour. In addition to public training sessions, the program therefore includes numerous fan and sponsor events.
This is already FC Bayern’s second visit to Hong Kong. The Munich team last visited the metropolis in 2007, when they defeated the top Brazilian club São Paulo 2-1.
Aston Villa awaits as a true test of their mettle
In addition to marketing activities, however, the focus is also on the sporting aspect. On Friday, Vincent Kompany’s team will face Europa League champions Aston Villa as part of the Audi Football Summit.
Following their 2-1 victory over Jeju SK, Bayern now faces their most challenging test of the preseason so far. With numerous national team players only gradually returning to the squad and several key players still sidelined due to injury, the match will provide important insights for the remainder of preseason preparations.
Just over two weeks later, the first competitive match is already on the schedule. In the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, FC Bayern will face Borussia Dortmund and aims to win the first title of the new season right off the bat. Accordingly, the match against Aston Villa is likely to serve as an important barometer of how far the team has come in its preparations for the start of the competitive season.
