Wisdom Mike is one of FC Bayern’s most exciting young talents. However, the 17-year-old will not be joining the record champions on their tour of Asia. Instead, the attacking player is expected to focus on gaining match experience after his long injury layoff—and could even leave the club temporarily this summer.
As Sky reports, several clubs in Germany and abroad are considering a loan deal for the Bayern talent. According to the report, such a scenario is not being ruled out at Säbener Straße.
However, no decision has been made yet. For now, all parties involved want to wait and see how things develop in the coming weeks. The main focus is on Mike’s physical condition following his long injury layoff.
Injury slowed the youngster down
The Munich native had recently been sidelined for about four months due to a severe hip muscle injury. The attacking player didn’t return to team training until mid-July and most recently also participated in the first team’s training camp at Tegernsee.
Nevertheless, he won’t be ready for the Audi Summer Tour to Asia. Together with coach Vincent Kompany, Mike decided to first gain playing time with the reserve team under head coach Dante and gradually work his way back up to his top form.
This is intended to prevent overloading the 17-year-old too soon after his long forced break.
A loan remains a realistic option
Whether Mike will actually spend the season at FC Bayern remains to be seen. According to Sky, several clubs are closely monitoring his situation and would like to sign the attacking player on loan.
A temporary move could give the young talent regular playing time at a higher level—an important building block for his continued development.
Bayern’s belief in Mike’s long-term potential was already evident last season. Despite his young age, the attacking player made five competitive appearances for the first team under Vincent Kompany.
However, his positive progress was subsequently halted by a persistent injury. Now, Mike’s priority is to regain full fitness. Only then is a decision likely to be made regarding his athletic future.
