For Harry Kane, the dream of a World Cup title has come to an end —now the striker’s focus is back on Munich. Talks about a contract extension are apparently set to begin soon at FC Bayern.
The 32-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with the German record champions. So it’s no wonder that the club’s leadership at Säbener Straße wants to get things settled sooner rather than later. Kane is set to receive a new contract in Munich, and negotiations could begin as early as soon.
The club’s leadership has a strong argument up their sleeve: With FC Bayern, Kane competes for the Champions League year after year. That’s exactly what the club’s leadership is apparently counting on. BILD’s soccer editor-in-chief, Christian Falk, explained: “Kane knows he has a great chance of winning it if he stays at FC Bayern.”
„He wants the big title“
Almost inevitably, transfer rumors keep surfacing around the England national team captain. Sometimes they involve a return to Tottenham Hotspur; other times, Real Madrid is said to be interested. Both clubs are currently undergoing major changes—and that’s exactly what could work against a departure from Munich.
Falk put this into perspective with regard to Real: Perhaps the Royals “will be good enough next year under new coach José Mourinho, but they don’t know that.” And the Spurs? After narrowly avoiding relegation, they aren’t even playing in international competition. “Harry wants to win the Champions League now. He can’t wait for the Spurs to rebuild themselves. He wants the big title,” said Falk.

Added to that is his personal life: Kane is said to feel very at home in Munich with his family. A contract extension with FC Bayern therefore seems likely.
On the field, his record speaks for itself anyway. In 147 competitive matches for Bayern Munich so far, Kane has scored 146 goals—a scoring rate that’s second to none.
