Joshua Kimmich has spoken in detail for the first time about the speculation surrounding a possible move to Paris Saint-Germain. The FC Bayern captain made it clear that he does not regret his decision to stay in Munich—quite the contrary. PSG’s Champions League victory has actually reinforced his decision.

“For me, that was more of a confirmation that I had made the right decision. Because a major motivation for me to make a move would have been the chance to win the Champions League with this club for the first time in PSG’s history,” said Kimmich.

Last season, of all things, Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain faced off directly in the Champions League semifinals.
For Kimmich, this matchup held a very special significance. “With PSG’s second title, what made it special for me was the fact that we were playing each other in the semifinals. I really wanted to win that one, but unfortunately it didn’t work out,” explained the DFB captain.
The defeat stung, but it did nothing to change his fundamental conviction.

Despite missing out on the final and another European disappointment, Kimmich still clearly sees his future in Munich. “Nevertheless, I know that I’m exactly where I need to be,” the Bayern star made clear.
