With the double season barely over, FC Bayern are already looking ahead again. While Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are working on the squad for the coming season, the timetable for pre-season preparations has now also been finalized
As reported by BILD, FC Bayern will begin preparations for the 2026/27 season on July 20 – just one day after the final of the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico
Coach Vincent Kompany is giving the few professionals who are not playing in the World Cup a comparatively long break of around two months
Bayern start with a mini-squad
However, the start of training is likely to take place on a very small scale initially, as the majority of the Bayern squad will be represented at the World Cup
At present, only Tom Bischof, the injured Serge Gnabry and Sven Ulreich are certain not to be in their national teams‘ World Cup squads, while almost all of the other professionals will travel to the tournament in North America
As a result, Kompany will once again have to rely heavily on young players for the start of preparations, and a number of players returning on loan could also initially be part of the training squad
Bryan Zaragoza and Maurice Krattenmacher in particular are seen as candidates who will be allowed to show themselves at the start of preparations
National players are gradually joining the squad

As in previous years, the national team players will only return gradually. Depending on their nations‘ performance at the World Cup, the first stars are likely to arrive back in Munich around two to three weeks after their tournament exit
For Kompany, this means another unusual summer preparation with constantly changing groups, although this scenario has long since become the norm for top international clubs such as FC Bayern
While the players are enjoying their vacation for the time being, Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are now entering the hot phase of squad planning
FC Bayern would like to strengthen its squad in certain areas, but at the same time act in an economically sensible manner. Sales and potential market opportunities will therefore play a decisive role
With Anthony Gordon, Dusan Vlahovic and young talent Kennet Eichhorn, several names are already circulating around Säbener Straße
One thing is clear: a number of important decisions are likely to be made in Munich before the start of training on July 20.
