The skepticism surrounding Alphonso Davies is apparently growing at FC Bayern, with the Canadian’s injury problems and high salary apparently causing internal discussions
The future of Alphonso Davies at FC Bayern could apparently be much more open than previously assumed. As reported by kicker, those responsible at the record champions are now discussing the possible sale of the left-back internally
Particularly explosive: Davies only extended his long-term contract in Munich until 2030 in February 2025. Nevertheless, according to the report, the 25-year-old is now considered a „possible sales candidate“
The main reasons for this are apparently the Canadian’s ongoing injury problems – and his enormous salary. Davies is now said to earn almost €15 million per year at Säbener Straße, making him one of the absolute top earners in the squad
According to kicker, this is precisely why Bayern bosses are now increasingly asking themselves about the price-performance ratio
Injuries raise doubts
The past few months in particular have been anything but ideal for Davies. Since tearing his cruciate ligament in the spring of 2025, the Canadian international has repeatedly struggled with setbacks
His muscles have set him back several times, and Davies is currently out again with a thigh injury and will therefore miss the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart
Even his participation in the home World Cup with Canada is apparently still in doubt. According to the report, FC Bayern’s medical department will ultimately decide whether Davies will be allowed to play for his national team in the summer
The former crowd favourite has also fallen short of his own expectations in sporting terms of late, with his lack of rhythm becoming noticeable time and again
Although Davies put in a decent performance at times against Achraf Hakimi and Desire Doue in the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, he was the unlucky man of the evening with an unfortunate handball in the penalty area
Sale still complicated
However, a possible parting of the ways is likely to be anything but easy for Bayern
According to kicker, it is precisely the high salary that could become a major problem. Internally, they are aware that it could be „difficult to impossible“ to find a club willing to pay both the transfer fee and Davies‘ current salary

Nevertheless, the topic seems to be at least being discussed at Säbener Straße
Davies has played for FC Bayern since January 2019 and once developed from an attacking winger into one of the best left-backs in the world in Munich. With Bayern, he has won seven German championships and the 2020 Champions League, among others.
